Exclusive Interview with recording artist KAPUZE

What is the name of your song?

It’s actually an EP and it’s called KAPUZE & MAYA. It is about the dream, to live with your loved ones on a beach, having a wonderful time, and watching the sun set. I created heavy bass combined with Electronic, Indie influences and lyrics about Maya, who is the inspiration for my love EP, which comes up with 5 individual tracks.

What was the process of making this song?

I started writing the EP almost a year ago as I started of this whole music project. Mostly I wrote the songs on the piano. Sometimes it was a sample or a certain feeling which inspired me to produce these songs. But all in all I did everything by myself from writing the lyrics to the producing process. I wanted to create something unique with the dreamy feeling of an Indie band but at the same time I want to head bang like on an EDM festival. That’s kinda the style of KAPUZE.

Where are you from?

I’m living in Leipzig, Germany. But I’m trying to move to the US currently to spread my music to a bigger audience. And also touring is way easier there than in Germany.

When did you start making music?

That’s actually a long story. My dead thought me to play the guitar and I also learned to play the piano at the age of 8.
I used to play with him in a cover band where we played songs from Elton John and Cat Steven’s e.g. and at the age 15 I started producing electronic music.
After I kinda worked as an ghost producer for about 5 years I began to produce my own music for KAPUZE.

What is your greatest inspiration for your music?

There’s no certain band or artist I would like to consider as my inspiration. I like to play around with chords and melodies and sometimes it’s a sample which inspires me to make music.

What is the hardest subject you’ve ever written about?

Honestly my KAPUZE & MAYA EP is completely about love. But right now I’m writing new songs with topics like climate change, racism, sexism and poverty. I want to use my voice to express my thoughts about society and politics and to clear up with injustices that is going on our planet. Also psychological topics like depressions and anxieties are very important to me.

What are the challenges of being an independent artist that you’ve faced?

The list is kinda endless however there are a view advantages. Biggest issue is money because marketing, sundry services and releases cost a loooooot. And also getting noticed by fans and labels is very hard without contacts and money. I would love to receive more trust by bigger labels who are willed to invest in me and my art that I’m able to take my project on another level. I’m the hardest working person and I invest all resources I have but it seems like it isn’t enough. Of course you need to keep your feet running to get noticed by labels and fans but if I could got more help by the music industry in general, at an early level of my career I could be much further.
However being independent is also an advantage because you can do whatever you’re up to. No obligations or contracts, that’s cool!

Do you have any new music on the way?

Oh yes! I signed a song to CloudKid recently and many more tracks will be released in 2021. Definitely stay tuned for more!

What would you like your fans to take away from your music?

Never give up and try to look at the bright side of life and enjoy every single minute, but also think critical and do everything for a better and just world.

What's your reaction?
