Interview with Long Island Rapper Bondsabillion

What 3 things does anyone starting in your industry need to know?

Be yourself, create at your own pace, and don’t let people besides yourself tell you how to create.

What would you do differently if you were starting in your industry now?

I would record as much music as possible. I have so many songs I wrote but never recorded and they probably never will be.

Which people or books have had the most influence on your growth and why?

Joe Budden has taught me a lot about the music industry. He talks about 360 deals and the pitfalls of the music industry all the time.

What would you say is the #1 key to success in pursing music?

The #1 key to success in music is BEING YOURSELF and letting people know the real you! If you just be you there is always going to be a pocket you can fit in and a group of people who want to hear from you.

Talk about the biggest failure you’ve had. What did you learn from it?

My biggest failure is every song I’ve started but never finished. I’ve learned that every song you make is for a reason. If you spend the time on it any song could become your favorite song. Don’t give up on those drafts so easily!

What has been your biggest success. story in music? Why do you think it was a success?

My biggest success story to me is putting out my first album. It’s a success to me because I never thought I’d have an album on Spotify/Apple Music. I always thought I’d be a SoundCloud rapper.

What keeps you going when things get tough in your music career?

What keeps me going is my Mom and my Dad. I lost my mom in 2015 and my dad in April of 2020. Every time I want to give up I think of them watching me and pushing me forward when I have nothing left to give.

What made you pursue being an Rapper full time?

The love of the music. I honestly don’t see myself doing anything else with my life and I’m fine with that. I love music and it’s my passion.

Would you stay independent or sign to a major label?

If a label brought a big bag I’d sign. Multiple millions $.

What projects are you working on for 2021 and beyond?

I have 2 collab tapes coming out with 2 artists I’m very close with. I also plan on releasing a tape with my whole team on it. Then in the heat of the summer I want to drop my next album. After that? See where the music takes me.
