Saihaj Singh Gill is quickly becoming one of the rising names in Punjabi music. At just 22 years old, the Michigan State graduate is balancing corporate life while building momentum in the music industry through consistency, authenticity, and his viral track “Billi Akh.”
Before entering the Punjabi scene, Saihaj first started making music during the COVID lockdowns alongside his cousin and brother under the name “NKG.” Recording songs in a random room with a cheap Amazon microphone and no studio equipment, the group made music simply because they loved it.
“We were just having fun with it at first,” Saihaj says. “Nobody thought it would become something bigger.”
After taking a break from music following high school, Saihaj rediscovered his passion during college at Michigan State University. Encouraged by his roommates Gurtegh Singh and Samee, he stepped back into music, this time focusing on Punjabi records and taking the craft more seriously.
That journey eventually connected him with Chan Mudhawala, someone Saihaj credits heavily for helping guide him through the music industry and pushing him in the right direction early on.
“Chan Mudhawala really helped me understand the industry,” Saihaj explains. “I honestly wouldn’t be here without him.”
While chasing his music dreams, Saihaj also completed his bachelor’s degree and currently works in corporate America, something he says helps him stay disciplined while supporting his long-term goals. He gives major credit to his father, who has always supported his ambitions while teaching him the importance of keeping work and education first.
Saihaj says everything he does is bigger than just music or personal success. One of his biggest motivations is being able to eventually give back to the people who stayed beside him from the beginning, especially his family and close friends.
“I want to put the people around me in better positions too,” he says. “My family sacrificed a lot for me and I want to make them proud.”
He also credits his parents, his brother Nihaal, and his longtime friend Taj for helping him stay grounded through both the highs and lows of the industry. According to Saihaj, learning who to trust became one of the biggest lessons of his journey, leading him to keep his circle small and focus only on genuine people.
Now, with “Billi Akh” continuing to gain traction online and his fanbase steadily growing, Saihaj Gill is focused on building something long-term, creating music that connects with listeners while inspiring others chasing dreams of their own.
