Alexander Oswald Mowbray, better known as Lecky, is a talented artist with roots in Australia and Fiji. He’s made a name for himself as a rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. After spending years giving away his music for free online, Lecky dropped his second studio album, “Lovers 2 Enemies,” in November 2023 under his own label, LeckyENT. The album received a lot of love from critics and fans alike, featuring hit singles like “Love & Lust,” “Goku,” and “Volkanovski.” Just a few months later, in February 2024, he followed up with his third album, “Enemies 2 Lovers,” which also came out under LeckyENT and included popular songs such as “Secrets,” “24 Hours,” and “Minute Maid.” He’s also part of the Melbourne hip hop collective LeckyENT, showcasing his collaborative spirit.
Lecky was born on November 8, 2002, in Melbourne, where he was raised in a family that celebrates their Fijian heritage alongside his two siblings. His early life in Melbourne wasn’t easy; after his father was incarcerated, he ended up in permanent foster care via the Department of Human Services. Lecky discovered his love for music young, learning to play guitar with help from his brother and picking up various instruments along the way. He started writing rap lyrics at just seven years old and began producing beats when he was fourteen, which led to his first single release on July 4, 2020. By sixteen, he had launched his debut track and hasn’t looked back since, continuously creating beats and music.
Lecky’s musical influences range from G-Unit to 50 Cent and Eminem. He committed about four years to honing his production skills before laying down his own raps. Importantly, Lecky is known for his ability to independently produce, mix, master, and engineer most of his tracks, all while writing and performing them as well. His sound typically blends hip hop and R&B, featuring a mix of rapping and catchy choruses.
