Born Issa Victor Rogers in Sierra Leone, he was raised in a household filled with love, faith, and music. His stage name reflects his roots—”V5D” honors his place as the youngest of five siblings, while “Victor” is a tribute to his late mother, Victoria. The name “Melody” was given to him by his church pastor, recognizing his undeniable gift for leading worship through song.
From Football Dreams to Musical Destiny
At 16, V5Dmelody pursued a career as a professional footballer, moving to Gambia with hopes of playing at the highest level. But fate had other plans. Multiple scholarship offers gave him a glimpse of success, only for an unfortunate injury and financial setbacks to cut that dream short. Instead of giving up, he found a new purpose—music. Singing in church and performing with a live band in Gambia’s streets, he quickly gained recognition for his soul-stirring vocals. Teaming up with rapper Sylvester Young, the duo produced 21 songs capturing themes of war, love, struggle, and survival. His debut single “Na War” introduced him to the world, followed by “Yow Rek”, which solidified his reputation as an artist on the rise.
A Journey Marked by Tragedy & Transformation
Just as his career was taking off, V5Dmelody faced an unimaginable loss—his mother passed away three days before the launch of his brand, Team Melody. Devastated, he put everything on hold. Soon after, in 2022, he immigrated to the U.S., searching for a fresh start. Adjusting to life in America wasn’t easy. Culture shock, financial struggles, and personal loss made the road ahead uncertain. But one thing remained constant—music. Through his lyrics, he transformed hardship into art, sharing stories of survival, love, and ambition. His music became his therapy, his weapon, and his way forward.
