Statik Selektah Teams Up with Memphis Rapper Lukah on New Single “Mirror Discussions” from Upcoming Joint Album

Memphis emcee Lukah has released a powerful new single titled “Mirror Discussions”, produced by legendary DJ and producer Statik Selektah. The track is the lead single from their upcoming collaborative album, A Lost Language Found, due out June 20, 2025 via Perfect Time Music Group.

“The song is me peeling back the layers—trauma, survival, pride, and contradiction—all laid bare. It’s a conversation with my past, my people, and the mirror that never lies,” said Lukah of the introspective track.

A Lost Language Found is produced entirely by Statik Selektah and centers around Southern Black culture, specifically the voices and language of Memphis. The project highlights seven distinct “languages” found within these communities—languages that have historically been stripped away or overlooked.
The album is set to feature a heavyweight lineup of guest appearances, including Killer Mike, Jay Worthy, 8Ball, Bun B, Termanology, and more.

Known for his raw lyricism and sharp social commentary, Lukah has become one of the most vital voices in modern hip-hop. Raised in South Memphis amid gang culture, he found inspiration through his parents and local legends like Playa Fly and DJ Paul. Hearing Crucial Conflict’s Hay during middle school sparked a lifelong commitment to making music with substance.

Lukah’s 2021 album When the Black Hand Touches You solidified his role as a cultural critic, fearlessly confronting systemic oppression and generational trauma. His follow-up project, Why Look Up, God’s in the Mirror, further explored themes of self-accountability and personal growth.
Outside the booth, Lukah mentors youth in Memphis, working to bridge the gap between underground and mainstream hip-hop. Now a father, he uses his platform to break cycles of trauma and inspire the next generation.

On the other side of the collaboration, Statik Selektah continues to assert his legacy as a defining figure in East Coast hip-hop. Known for breaking regional acts and shaping the mixtape era, Selektah has produced for G-Unit, AZ, and Joell Ortiz, and collaborated with icons like Nas, Q-Tip, and John Legend. His discography includes acclaimed solo albums such as Spell My Name Right (2007), Stick 2 the Script (2008), and 100 Proof: The Hangover (2010).

He’s also known for his collaborative projects with artists like Bun B (TrillStatik), Curren$y (Gran Turismo), and Freddie Gibbs (Lord Giveth, Lord Taketh Away). His 2020 album The Balancing Act featured hip-hop heavyweights including Nas and Method Man.

With A Lost Language Found, Lukah and Statik Selektah aim to deliver a body of work that is as culturally important as it is sonically rich—one that honors the past while carving a new path forward.
