Calzado Anim Returns With New Music

Calzado Anim, an enigmatic and prolific songwriter, recording artist, producer and mix & master engineer, hails from Gaborone, Botswana.

Named this way, Calzado represents a clever derivative and translation of his family name and serves to honour his family name. Anim represents a number, spiritual affiliation and story that have followed him since birth. He seeks to understand why these names amongst many others were revealed unto him.

Anim, man of many Godly talents also animates stunning and meticulously woven visuals inspired by his lifelong fascination with media, i.e, anime and soundtracks. Calzado’s milestones include releasing a trilogy of records in a single calendar year, (2022) all titled, i. The Quarantape, ii. Depression & 808’s, and iii. Ego Death: The Last Sunday.

Following the Ego Death, Anim will be guiding us on a journey, on the loneliness of the human experience, on the strength it takes to walk, even if alone. “Lonely Living” is the embodiment of the human experience, when the cameras aren’t flashing, when standing in faith of any cause  when whole in Self yet incarnated in a hollow world. With 3 singles released, namely “Locked in Syndrome”, “Worst Side” and “Same Religion” from the roll out of “Lonely Living”, Anim is resolute in His resolve to set His claim on the world. In the face of all hurdles, Motivated only by The LORD’s will, Anim sets to be The Chief Artist of GOD.

He already has multiple projects lined up for when His audience has multiplied. Sonically, Anim and His team genesis a genre they coin , “Avant-Rage”. Combining Pop, Synth-Pop, Hip Hop, Rock, Indie and many other elements to synthesize classics and hits. Calzado has been honing His craft since 2016, evolving into the Artisan He is today. Backtracking to 2010, Calzado was introduced to the world of rap by His cousin when made to participate in a 3-way rap battle, including Anim’s elder brother. In an exchange of flows, Anim’s natural inclination to poetry inspired cheers and laughter from his cousin, and in seeing that acknowledgement and validation, immediately felt a sense of calling. Fast-forward to the period between 2014-2016, Anim received introductory lessons on the piano including base level music theory, which ultimately lead to Him discovering FL studio a year later, amidst following a rap feud between 2 local artists. In learning one of the rappers, whom Anim is now great friends with produced their own instrumentals in the beef, Calzado was moved and determined to become His own force, ultimately leading Him to meet one of His first musical mentors when purchasing His first set of equipment with His father. Being an adept learner, quick-witted Anim mastered the art of His craft wholly in learning how to impactfully produce, mix, master and songwrite with the mentors and friends He met along the way.
