Toledo, Ohio’s own Backstreet Baby (formerly PoloGang Kentae) has returned to the hip Hop stage and launched his solo career as Big Dump Kentae. Formerly known as Keontae Johnson, Big Dump Kentae has a lot to say and a story to tell.
Shot in the stomach and chest at only 17 years old and nearly losing his life to street violence, Big Dump Kentae is no stranger to the consequences of growing up in the streets. Growing up on Toledo’s North Side in the Back Streets, (specifically D Street), he has both seen a lot and done a lot which ultimately lead to his first hit as PoloGang Kentae, “Back Street Baby” which went viral after it was originally released in March 2017 on Detroit’s 7mile P’s YouTube Platform. During the height of its success, “Backstreet Baby” was also picked up and featured on several other major Detroit and Ohio platforms and featured on the popular Hip Hop blog Kollege Kidd.
After the success of Backstreet Baby, more music was released while apart of PoloGang such as “Kentae’s Story” which is a biographical rap detailing specific events of his life and music including collabs with other popular Toledo groups and artists like, “Gang Ties”, “Dopeman” And “For The Low” with RCE which successfully crossed gang affiliation borders with members of both the Crips and bloods collaborating to make hit music.
After being released from a stint in jail, Keontae decided to make way for his solo career as Big Dump on his own label Dump or Die and subsequently launched Dump or Die Apparel which sells branded urban active wear.
Out the gate, Big Dump Kentae’s first release under his own label is a feature with popular Milwaukee artist Chicken P capturing the original Backstreet Baby mentality with the Midwest/Milwaukee hustle flow effortlessly. Fans should look for more music from Big Dump to be released consistently including several mixtapes and performances throughout the years.
